Don’t miss this opportunity for river hiking / trekking in Neda, a beautiful river in the western Peloponnese in Greece. This river is unique in the sense that it is the only river in Greece with a feminine name. The river begins on the southern slope of Mount Lykaion, near the village of Neda in northern Messenia.
It flows to the west through a varied landscape of barren rocks and forests. Our daily activity starts from the bridge of Fygaleia where we take all the necessary equipment for our river trek. We follow the running waters that lead us into a totally virgin natural environment. We move along wild vegetation with plane trees and wild berries, through narrow rocky passages and impressive water filled waterfalls, discovering a hidden but perfectly true natural paradise.
Close to the village of Neda, we will find a magical natural scenery, Neraidorema (the stream of the fairy). Waterfalls flow infinitely and create blue lakes that are then poured into the river and continue fast on their way to the sea. Here is the end of our journey where we relax with tastes of local traditional dishes and refreshing dives in the cool waters of these natural pools.
