Cycling fans know that it is a great pleasure to bike around nature! The easygoing sense of freedom which a biking holiday can provide, has created an entire travel culture of its own and Greece has a longstanding tradition in cycling.

The history of cycling in Greece began in the 19th century. Indeed, in the first modern Olympics which were held in 1896 in Athens, the Greek cyclist Aristidis Konstantinidis won the golden medal in the road bicycle race!

The routes which can be enjoyed by bicycle in Greece are among the best in the world. Some are very demanding because of the hilly terrain, others are less strenuous, but nevertheless they are all beautiful. Cyclists, in the spirit of competition or simply with a desire to explore, will find that Greece has wonderful countryside in which to pursue their favourite sport.

Day 1

Athens – Evritania

Arrival in Athens and transfer to Evritania region. Lunch stop on the way, at Makrakomi city. In the evening, we will do the first bike route of the trip: will start from Velouchi mountain all the way to our hotel.

Overnight in Karpenisi

Day 2

Evritania – Prousos Monastery

Start the day from our hotel. Bike to Clafsi and Megalo Chorio Villages. Visit Megalo Chorio. picnic lunch at the river of Trikeriotis. We will bike till the Monastery of Proussos and visit it. Optionally, we can continue to do the circle of Proussos and finish our day at the Trikeriotis river.

Day 3

Evritania Agrafa Village

In the morning we will have a short transfer till the village of Fraggista. From there, we will start the biking to Agrafa village. On the way to Agrafa we will pass from Kerasochori and Kredis villages, and will bike along the Agrafiotis river. Nice biking with beautiful views of the river and the peaks of Agrafa. At the noon we will arrive at the village and will have a relaxing evening with dinner on a nice tavern just a bit away from the village center.

Day 4

Agrafa – Plastira lake

The most demanding, yet impressive, day of the tour. The crossing of Niala pass is a challenge for all of us bikers. Optionally we can start in the morning from our hotel at Agrafa Village (990 m) and climb all the way up to Niala pass (1650 m). After Niala pass we will bike on a alpine scenery with nice views of the peaks of Agrafa mountain range. We will pass from the dam of Plastira lake and at the evening we will finish our day at our hotel at the Plastira lake.

Day 5

Plastira Lake – Pertouli

After the hard bike at Agrafa range, this is an easier day: we will start our biking along the Plastira lake with gorgeous views of the clear lake waters and the peaks of Agrafa across. We will pass from an old water mill, and will stop for a coffee at the traditional village of Kerasia. After that, a lunch stop at Pefkofito village. We will end our biking day at Mouzaki village and then will be transmitted to Pertouli area.

Day 6

Pertouli – Meteora

Get ready for another impressive biking day! We will start by biking through the forest of Koziakas mountain at an old (and not used by cars anymore ) road. We will then pass from Glikomilia village and our lunch stop will be at the village of Kria Vrisi. Optionally, we can visit a winery at Diava Village.  After our lunch, we willll bike till the area of Meteora and Kastraki Village.

We will end our day with dinner and live Greek music (bouzouki and guitar)

Overnight at Kastraki, Meteora

Day 7

Meteora – Athens

Today we will bike around the cliffs of Meteora! Starting from our hotel, we will bike all the way up till the most impressive monastery, the monastery of Great Meteoro and of course we will stop on the way for taking pictures of the amazing landscape.

At midday we will start driving all the way south to Athens. We will have a lunch stop at Kamena Vourla (the small village on the coast).
