An area of peculiar natural beauty close to Rethymno, Crete, a fairytale gorge with small paths, little bridges, old churches and of course the mills that once grated all the grain of the area. The gorge is crossed by the Mylonian stream which creates a fantastic and totally green landscape, rich in vegetation and beautiful sceneries.
The walk from one end of the canyon to the other lasts about 2 hours and is suitable for all ages, from young children to elderly hikers. During the hike you will see a representative picture of pre-industrial facilities in Crete. The approximately 30 old watermills, the water transport network, the abandoned village with its two neighborhoods (Up & Down Mills), will “transfer” you into another era.
