Rafting the rapids of Aliakmonas river is a special experience for both fun-loving adventurers, as well as for families with children. Each boat carries up to 6 people.

River rafting brings all the fun of the water together with the sense of adventure. Enjoying the flow of the river and wondering what’s around the next bend. Whether as a family outing or a group extreme sport excursion, rafting offers everyone an opportunity to get out, get wet and most importantly, have fun! This rafting tour has a medium grade of difficulty and takes place in Aliakmonas river in Grevena, a destination close to Thessaloniki and Meteora.

Aliakmonas‘ name comes from the mixing of two words, als (salt, sea) and the name akmon (anvil). According to Greek Mythology, Aliakmon was one of the river gods, son of the Ocean and Tethys. This daily river rafting route is available throughout the year. The longest in length river of Greece (322 km) is ready to host us for a few (6) kilometers, in its amazing natural scenery. During this tour we will admire the Meteora-like rocks, since this area resembles the one of the Meteora region (Rocks composed of psammite, sandstone). We will also spot a big variety of birds (herons, cormorants, black storks, wild ducks, falcons, eagles etc.) and also mammals (bears, deer, wild pigs etc.) that live in this wild and beautiful natural environment.

Spring or winter with lots and lots of water and impressive waves… Summer or autumn, with less and warmer water… Even under the moon light, rafting in Aliakmonas is a unique experience that you should enjoy all seasons!
